TEACHING WITH THE
BILLIKEN TEACHER CORPS All Billiken Teacher Corps fellows are placed in a Catholic school in either the Archdiocese of St. Louis or its neighbor, the Diocese of Belleville, IL. Teachers are placed into a variety of teaching positions in schools that have openings that suit the fellow's unique gifts and talents. For example, teachers have been placed in a self-contained 2nd grade classroom, a middle school departmental math classroom, a high school Spanish classroom, and as a campus minister/Theology teacher in a high school. By working with Archdiocesan School Leadership and the principals of our partner schools, we try to find the right fit for each Billiken Teacher Corps fellow and school. All Billiken teachers are provided with an in-school mentor to show them the ins-and-outs of the school and help them get acquainted with the school's culture. Administrators at Billiken Teacher Corps partner schools are invested in the success of the Billiken teacher and therefore provide a necessary support to our first and second year teachers. |
