A world-class Jesuit education through Saint Louis University.
Men and Women for and with Others

Saint Louis University is a Jesuit University located in the heart of St. Louis. The Billiken Teacher Corps not only forms top-tier educators but also men and women who live their lives for and with others.

Masters of Arts in Teaching Degree
Billiken Teacher Corps members complete 37 or 38 credit hours of graduate coursework through the School of Education and can receive alternative certification if desired. Corps members who pursue alternative certification, receive a Missouri teaching licenses from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The BTC also accepts education majors who desire to be a part of this holistic program.

The two-year program begins in June. Corps members take 9 hours of coursework each summer, designed to provide the appropriate foundation that teachers will need. During the school year, the BTC attends classes one night per week while teaching full time. This provides a unique experience to apply what they learn directly to their classrooms.

Support
Each BTC member has a team of support that provides feedback, problem-solving, and encouragement. University Supervisors, School Mentors, and Instructional Coaches journey with them through their two years in the program. These experts, trained in a variety of specialty areas in education, connect the Billiken Teacher Corps to resources, make suggestions for lessons and classroom management, and support the growth of the teacher into a master educator.

Full Tuition Remission
Billiken Teacher Corps members receive full tuition remission upon signing a contract with their school and the School of Education. BTC members also receive a stipend and optional health insurance.

TEACH ME. by St. Ignatius of Loyola

Lord, teach me to be generous,
to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to look for any reward,
save that of knowing that I do your holy will.
