Founded in 2015, the Billiken Teacher Corps exists to grow strong educators with a heart for service.
BTC fellows teach full time and impact underserved Catholic schools in the St. Louis area while living out the Jesuit mission of being people for and with others.
"BTC has shaped the way I view my calling as a teacher - not only am I here as a teacher to empower my students to learn and to help them grow, but I am here to learn from Jesus the Teacher, who guides me as I respond to this vocation."
- Steph, Cohort 5
BTC fellows earn a Master of Arts in Teaching while receiving full tuition remission. The fellows are supported in their teaching journey with a school mentor, a University Supervisor, and an instructional coach.
“Teaching means more to me than just helping my students understand content. Teaching is about making an impact. It’s opening my heart up to allow my students to make an impact on me. It is doing my very best to love like Jesus and for my students to see and know that. When they know that they are loved, that’s when they can learn and understand the content.”
- Mallory, Cohort 5
BTC fellows live in an intentional faith community with a cohort and participate in weekly spirituality nights, annual retreats and community-building events.
“These two years have been the most formative time of my life thanks to my community and students. They have taught me more than I ever could have imagined, specifically how to continually build community through love and prayer.”
- Shannon, Cohort 4
